Good Night DP

Dolapo Joel Balogun was a good friend. Earlier in February, I was in Lagos for the first time, attending a Growth Accelerator BootCamp, where I became a full-stack growth engineer.
In the physical bootcamp, we were grouped by companies into three; I, our Chief Editor and DP ( as we call him), were in the same group. It was the first time we had met, DP was the Chief Growth Officer at Byte, a payment startup in Nigeria. Throughout the Bootcamp, we learnt and solved problems together and our group emerged as the best team at the end of the camp.
DP was a cool, smiley and soft-spoken person, he was at the peak of his career. Even after our Bootcamp ended, we were still in talks and he was always checking up on me. Just last month and even earlier in December, we discussed our career aspirations. He always tells me to let him know whenever I want to come to Lagos, that he is happy to host me.
I was in great disbelief when I heard yesterday that he had passed and had even been buried the day before. I don’t know the cause of his death, I only heard from our Bootcamp group. If I hadn’t gotten the information, I would have still chatted with him before the end of the year, It is still hard for me to process. I don’t know how to grieve.
Goodbye DP, you left too soon.
May your soul rest in perfect peace.
